My Thoughts on Apple’s Continuing Growth

Just a few moments ago, Apple again blew everyone’s socks off by announcing that for fiscal quarter two of 2011, the company had raked in $24.67 in revenue, and $5.99 billion in profit. Those are amazing numbers for any company, not just a consumer electronics brand. That leads me to wonder just how long this exceptional growth will last for Apple. No company, not even Apple can continue to grow it’s year-ago-quarter by 85% indefinitely.

Apple Blocking Retail Employee Vacations for May, Apple Retails 10th Anniversary

AppleInsider is reporting that Apple retail employees have received an email notifying them that they cannot ask for days off from May 20 to May 22nd. The report then turns to Gary Allen of ifoAppleStore, who reports that these dates fall in line with the company’s tenth anniversary of open the physical retail stores. Apple may do something during these dates to “attract a crowd”, but no word on what that might entail. The first Apple retail stores were opened on May 19th, 2001.

Real Racing 2 HD now supports 1080p TV out on the iPad 2

I received an e-mail from Firemint earlier today that announced that the Real Racing 2 HD update, featuring 1080p output to your local high definition television, has gone live. You’ll need an iPad 2, a $9.99 copy of Real Racing 2 HD , an HDMI output cable (though can VGA work for non-HD goodness, as well), and of course an HDTV. Once you have those components linked and loaded, you’ll be ready to race at 30 frames per second, using the TV as your cockpit view and the iPad 2 as your dashboard, as in the screenshot above. I only own an iPad 2 and am missing all of the other components, but if any of you fine couch racers try this out, please share your feedback with us in the comments. This is definitely some very cool stuff.
