Garageband for iPad Updated With AirPlay and Bluetooth Speaker Support

Now here’s an exciting addition to Garageband for iPad ($4.99): support for AirPlay and Bluetooth devices! I tested the AirPlay playback briefly this morning, and although it definitely lags a bit on my network, it does work quite nicely for helping you review entire sections of your aural masterpieces. There is also added support for copying and pasting audio into Garageband, but I know this function wasn’t added with me in mind, since I wasn’t even aware of the fact that iOS could copy or paste audio. Ahem. Let’s get on with the day then, shall we?

More on Time Capsule: Next-Gen Device to Offer Caching for Software Updates

Following a report that AirPort and Time Capsule supplies were running short in stores, 9to5Mac is now reporting that Apple is internally testing a Time Capsule model capable of caching software updates for network connected Mac or iOS device, to help speed up the updating process. In short, it download and stores the update, until it is called for by a device on the local network. This way the update can be transferred much more quickly locally, than downloading, and re-downloading the update for each device from the web. Additionally, the device could be smart enough to determine which devices need an update, and which packages to download. Apple also appears to have been making inroads to this, with both the new iMac and MacBook Pro carrying a third Wi-Fi antenna for transfer speeds up to 450Mbps. Lastly, as I mentioned in my last report on this subject, Apple could very easily be waiting to update their network devices, such as Time Capsule, for Monday, the first day of the company’s World Wide Developers Conference, to roll around.

iOS Web Browsing Share Is Double That of Android

The latest figures from Net Applications show that iOS is far ahead of Android in terms of web browsing share. iOS accounts for 2.38% of all web browsing by OS (getting near to half of Mac’s share now) compared to just 0.76% for Android. That’s a huge lead, especially considering that there are so many more Android devices out on the market than iOS devices. It’s also another good indicator that the whole Android vs. iOS debate is not all about numbers of units sold
