Forum Review: App Sniper for the iPhone

App Sniper Forum Review by cjvitek For more Forum Reviews, see the TiPb iPhone App Store Forum ! Okay, I have never used a sniping service on Ebay, but I hear they are very popular. So when I saw this AppSniper program, I thought I would give it a look see. And my first impression was…interesting. The AppSniper program is designed to track prices of applications that you are interested in, but that cost too much. You get to input a “desired” price, and if/when the app reaches that price, you are notified. First things first, this does NOT run in the background, so you will not received a notification that the app has reached the snipe price unless you run the program and allow it to sync with the servers. Repeat, you won’t be notified while going about your normal iPhone activities

Beejive IM Goes 2.0, Adds File Transfer And More

Known for their IM client on other smartphones, Beejive [iTunes] created a web app for the iPhone in the beginning; however, it was their native application that really turned my head. Beejive has come a long way from its web app roots, and the company recently updated the application to version 2.0, which adds more features than ever before.

Copyright © 2009 PatrickJ . Visit the original article at http://justanotheriphoneblog.com/wordpress/2009/01/07/best-buy-now-selling-iphone-3g-refurbs-too/ . If you’re looking for a discount on an iPhone 3G (in the US) and you don’t mind a refurbished model, your range of choices on where to get one has just expanded. Best Buy outlets are now selling refurb 3Gs for $149 (for the 8GB model) and $249 (for the 16GB) -so both are $50 off the cost of a new model. AT&T had also been promoting discounted iPhone 3G refurbs (and may still be - check this page for details) - at the same prices as Best Buy are currently offering. As with new phones, the refurb models require a 2 year contract with AT&T - and come with a one-year warranty from Best Buy. These discounted units are available initially at 350 Best Buy outlets, and will be in all stores by the end of January

Snapture Labs Announces Camera Flash Unit For (jailbroken, 2G?) iPhone

Copyright © 2008 JoeT . Visit the original article at http://justanotheriphoneblog.com/wordpress/2008/12/23/snapture-labs-announces-camera-flash-unit-for-jailbroken-2g-iphone/ . Snapture Labs has introduced the Snapture Flash , a camera flash unit for the iPhone.    Amongst its many features are a Xenon flash unit, which they claim is 100 times brighter than an ordinary LED-based flash. The Snapture Flash also boasts over 1000 flashes on a single charge, along with a built-in low-light detection feature to automatically trigger the flash.  The unit is based on an enclosure case design - meaning that your iPhone slips into the case that holds the flash unit - making the Snapture Flash an attractive carrying case for your iPhone as well.   The case features speakerphone amplification, which is a great feature in its own right.   The bad news, however, is that the unit currently only works with jailbroken iPhones; likely because the flash is triggered by Snapture’s software - which isn’t available through the App Store.   One would imagine that there is some sort of official Apple restriction in accessing hardware connected through the docking port as well.   Adding to the potential woes is that there is no mention of compatibility with the iPhone 3G - indeed, the photo we were provided showed an original 2G iPhone. Snapture did not announce a price for the Snapture Flash, and as they are currently seeking manufacturing partners, it seems that it will be some time before it is available for purchase.
