Foxconn Pushing Time Tables Forward, Start Brazilian iPad Production in July
As we’ve reported before, Apple’s manufacturing partner, Foxconn, is looking to invest some $12 billion in Brazil, building new plants, and infrastructure as to avoid the heavy import taxes imposed by that country. When the story broke, Foxconn was planning on starting production in November, they are now planning to move that date up to sometime in July. Here’s a quote from the Reuters report: Foxconn has moved up its desired start date for assembling iPads in Brazil to July from November, seeking to tap massive demand for the device in Brazil’s booming consumer market, according to newspapers Estado de S.Paulo and Folha de S.Paulo. Their reports quoted government officials. Foxconn is still trying to wring everything they can out of it. Specifically, looking for more incentives to build (read: tax breaks) in that country. To me even with $12 Billion (which if they’re willing to spend that on infrastructure, there is no telling what they stand to earn), a July time frame is very ambitious, from what I’m assuming is a cold start

64GB Wi-Fi + 3G iPad Most Popular Model Report Claims
Context , a market research firm, claims that the top-of-the-line 64GB Wi-Fi iPad 2, is the most popular model in Western Europe, making up some 33% of sales. The next highest-selling model is the the base 16GB Wi-Fi model with 22% of sales. All of this data was taken in Q1 of 2011, and doesn’t count the holiday rush. Review: Grandview for Mac
I started this quick review of Grandview ($4.99) for Mac to talk about how I just didn’t understand how you were supposed to approach the app, but here I am now, actually having fun with it. Here are the basics: Grandview sits in the menubar Hitting a keyboard shortcut (option + Cmd + 5) will activate the app in full-screen mode As you type, Grandview will display just one word at a time, except for when you finish a sentence There is another keyboard shortcut (Cmd + =) to view text, but you’re better off reading in another app Closing the Grandview window will copy your written text to the clipboard Grandview does have a very strange, but interesting approach. The last sentence is in the past — out of sight and out of mind — and the only thing you’re thinking about right now is the word in front of you. Grandview is a running start to writing. It resides in the menu bar, activates with a keyboard shortcut, and then encourages you to go sprinting right into the page, if only for the sensation of pressing keys and making words. There’s a certain weightlessness to the writing you can do in Grandview, as if you’re writing through the air, but I’ve also found that it only lasts for so long. I eventually have to come back out to a more traditional text view so that I can actually read what I’ve written and examine how my paragraphs flow

Music Labels Hoping Licensing Deal Will Put Pressure on Google and Amazon to do the Same
CNET is reporting that music labels are now hoping that their licensing deal with Apple, to make their content accessible from the cloud, will help to force Google and Amazon (both companies have recently launched cloud music streaming) to negotiate licensing deals as well (something neither company has done so far). In essence, Apple will be able to do more with their service due to the licensing agreement. The music labels are hoping that Apple’s freedom (because of the license) to do more, and their ability to implement it, will create a superior service, that Google and Amazon will have to match. And to match it, they will need music label licensing. The report also notes that the music labels are getting a little antsy, and hopes that Apple unveils this music service at their upcoming World Wide Developers Conference, which is slated for the beginning of next month.
