I think we’re getting to the breaking point – the point where writing apps are coming out faster than blogs can cover them, where the sentences spill. over. their. periods, and where the meek italics shall overthrow the bold . That’s actually all nonsense, of course, because I still enjoy looking at writing apps, and OmmWriter looks even more interesting on the iPad than it does on the Mac.

Apple Issues Security Fix for “Mac Defender” Malware Threat

In a minor software update entitled Security Update 2011-003 (Snow Leopard) Apple has addressed the “Mac Defender” malware threat. This same update will also apparently be included in the Mac OS X 10.6.8 update, which is still in developer testing. This is one of Apple’s fastest response times for a security threat. Waiting only about a week for after the story broke to issues a response . They then promised to address the issue with a software update to remove the malware. In the meantime, Apple also issued a guide to help the more savvy users remove the malware themselves.

Clearing the Air: Apple Has NOT Stated Whether Steve Jobs Will Give the Keynote Address at WWDC 2011

Jim Dalrymple of The Loop has confirmed with Apple PR, that the company has not announced whether Steve Jobs will be giving the keynote address at this year’s World Wide Developers Conference. Several reports had been swirling around, claiming that Apple had announced that CEO Steve Jobs would be giving the keynote address. This does not appear to be true. Plus, just like last year, I don’t expect Steve to make an appearance. First, he’s trying to ween the public off of his public appearances, plus, he is still technically on medical leave.
