Apple plans to offer a “full-on solution” for multitasking in version 4.0 of the iPhone OS, according to AppleInsider.
TUAW played hero today, riding to the rescue of would-be iPad pre-orderers everywhere with firm news from Apple PR of just when exactly those iPad pre-orders would start: “Customers can pre-order online at apple.com at 5:30am Pacific time on Friday, March 12.” So that’s 5:30am PT, 8:30am ET, 1:30pm GT. Of course, the Apple Online Store might go down first, and who knows what delays might spring up between now and then, but for what it’s worth that’s currently go time. It used to be that jailbreaking your iPhone was a long, involved process , but worth it for the freedom . Then maybe, maybe , you should try Springpad. Springpad is a free iPhone app in the vein of Evernote , except with a broader scope. You can dump just about anything you encounter in here: photos are easily snapped and categorized; barcodes are scanned and filed; restaurants and stores are identified by manual or geo-based search; notes are pecked and saved; every input field, nearly, is augmented by a “search” option; and all your material syncs to the service’s desktop web interface. Since the app’s promise—to make collecting and organizing little scraps of information super-easy—is so appealing, it’s disappointing to find some interface awkwardness here; there’s never anything missing, really, but you often find yourself pausing to look for the next command longer than you should have to
More clues are being discovered in hardware and software leading to speculation that the iPad can support a front-facing iSight camera.
